Where do I begin. Oh yes, Anthony is back HOME! Hard to believe that a whole year has passed since he shipped off to Iraq. It’s been a rough road, but we made it to the other end in one piece. The girls and I flew back to TX to greet him as soon as he stepped off the plane.
We spent nearly 2 weeks hanging out in TX while Anthony out processed. It was a bit of a blessing in disguise. As much as I didn’t want to go back to Ft. Hood, it made me remember how lucky we were to be done with that place.
We had planned a trip to San Diego to visit Anthony’s sister, Lyann, and his ill grandmother as soon as we could get out of Killeen. Unfortunately, grandma passed on the 5th of September. We had to catch an earlier flight back to CO so that Anthony could check into his new base and immediately ask for emergency leave. Since being back in Colorado, we have been working frantically trying to finalize stuff for our new house (I’ll tell you more about our new digs in another post) and making travel plans to Hawaii for grandma’s funeral.
We have had very little down time, but we are truly enjoying each other’s company. Anthony has jumped right back into his daddy role and I couldn’t ask for a better father for my girls.
Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts, and support during Anthony’s deployment. We are blessed to have such wonderful friends and family and could not have made it through the year without you all.
Here are a few more pictures of the past couple weeks:
