We had our anatomy scan/ultrasound on Friday. Always an exciting time. I signed the form saying we did not want to find out the gender of the baby. I know Ty is anxious to find out, but he went along with my wishes…a perk of being pregnant is I get to play the but-I’m-carrying-your-child-card all the time. As usual they poke around, take measurements of the baby, and narrate along the way. Ty was sure he saw “something” when the tech scanned the baby’s butt and bladder area. I’m pretty sure what he saw was the umbilical cord…hahaha. I drank the required 30 oz of water prior to my appointment, so I was ready to bust by the end of the exam. Thankfully I hung in there a little longer because at the end of the scan the tech changed ultrasound wands, hit a couple of buttons on the machine, and there was our baby on the screen…in 3D! We had no idea they were going to do that. So neat to really see the baby’s face. My precious little baby, already taking my breath away.
The baby’s heart beat was at 140 this time. The tech said my placenta was a little low-lying which my midwife confirmed. Typically this type of thing will correct itself as the baby grows, but worse case scenario, they will have to do a scheduled c-section. Not a fan of that. I have a follow up ultrasound early next month to see if it moved. My midwife also mentioned that the baby’s left kidney is measuring on the higher part of the normal range and will also reassess at the next appointment. Please pray that all is well.
Ana fell asleep loving on her new baby brother/sister…be still my heart
I’m eating really crappy this week and even gave into my doughnut craving…tsk tsk. Thankfully it didn’t screw up my stomach as much as I thought it would. On second thought, I would be better off if it did. It would have scared me into never eating such things again, but now I know I can indulge here and there and not deal with the wrath of gluten on my insides.
BTW this is what happens when I send Ty out to get doughnuts “I didn’t know which one you wanted….” LOL
