August – September 2016
I started the new job on June 20th and commuted from Colorado Springs to Denver daily. I listened to a lot of NPR and Ted talks. We closed on the new house around the 11th of July but couldn’t move in right away. The previous owners had pets and we had to mitigate all the allergens and replace the carpet throughout the house. We partially moved in a few days after the girls started school. We were all hunkered down in the basement on air mattresses while we completed the minor remodeling projects upstairs.
August 1- First day of school 3rd and 6th grade
August 4 – Late night home improvement projects. Our au pair was great and not only kept an eye on the kids, but even helped paint and move furniture.
My phone took a dive and I lost many of my pictures from August, so there’s a bit of a gap. Mostly we worked on the house and moved all our stuff. We’ve always had the military move all our stuff for us, but this time we did it all with the help of our friends and family. It took 2 trips in a 26′ truck, another trip in a 16′ tuck, multiple small trips with our SUVs and friend’s trucks to move everything. We have a lot of crap!
Ty and I also replaced our hail damaged cars with new rides. I must say that I have mad negotiating/haggling skills. At one point I had 2 dealers trying to give me a better deal on the exact same car. I got them to knock off $5000 from MSRP, give me a loaner until my car was delivered, and all weather floor mats:)
August 31 – New lights over the island
September 2 – Standing desk setup at work
September 3 – Hair cut for baby boy
September 15 – Lauren took her first steps at 10 months!!
(This isn’t the best video. She took multiple step but wasn’t in the mood to walk anymore when we pulled out the camera)
And here’s a better one a few days later
September 17 – Lunch for Lola’s birthday
September 21 – Kids
September 25 – Hike at Canyon Creek Park
September 27 – Library story time and a visit from the firefighters
He loves to take pictures and will go to great lengths to get the best shot
September 30 – View from our back windows…will never get sick of this. Pictures do not do this view justice
