I’ve enjoyed looking through old pictures for these catch-up posts. We capture so many moments on our phones and never do anything with them, so I love that I still have this blog to catalog the kids’ growth and our experiences as a family. Here’s a look at the first six months of 2018.

We sadly had to say good bye our second Au Pair, Swaantje. She was a god sent and became a member of the family in the 2 years she spent with us. She helped raise our babies and I will be forever grateful that she loved these little ones as much as she did.

Spring Break Road Trip…in an RV!

30 ft RV – I had the pleasure of being the first one to drive this off the rental lot. Not easy!

First road block…literally. We were hit by a crazy spring snow storm that closed I-70. What would have normally taken us 2 hours took almost 7.

We pulled off into a Walmart parking lot for the night and made this for dinner. After a few hours of freezing our butts off, Ty and I decided to start the RV up and get back on the road. Thankfully, the interstate reopened and the weather cleared up.

These pictures of Zion do not do this place justice. We had a late start and didn’t have enough time to really explore, but the areas that we did see were just stunning. Definitely want to go back.

AJ started to get a little fussy, so into the baby carrier he went while I carried Lauren. On the bright side, these kids keep us fit 🙂

This place was just as incredible as the pictures. All the caverns were below ground and we hiked up and down metal ladders and in between the canyons. The guided tour is highly recommended…do it for the “gram!”

Horseshoe Bend, AZ

As you may have picked up already, the theme of this trip was heights! You would have thought with all the planning I did to map out our route, I would have noticed every location was high up and at the edge of cliffs. Not the best idea with little ones in tow and when I’m deathly afraid of heights myself. Horseshoe Bend is a beautiful point where the Colorado river creates a horseshoe path around rocks and a steep 1000 ft cliff. This was the closest I could get to the edge and basically crawled to get here – you’ll have to Google it to fully understand how amazing this place is.

We don’t have many pictures here since we locked up our belongings while we swam in the 100 degree natural spring pools. There was a significant sulfur smell initially, but we soon got use to it and enjoyed relaxing after a few days on the road.

Mother nature thought it would be funny to hit us with another snow storm. Guess it made sense to end our trip the same way it started.

Although things didn’t go quite as planned and there were moments where we seriously questioned an RV trip with 4 kids, we made a lot of great memories and look forward to maybe doing it again someday…preferably sometime in the summer.
