I could probably skip the intro and just write ‘PANDEMIC’ and you’d generally know what types of updates would be in this post: pictures of us at home, wearing masks, working remotely, etc. Although I have a lot of those things in here, we also moved back to CO from IL, Ty transitioned from active duty to a civilian intern, we celebrated several important milestones and so much more. Needless to say, if you don’t know our family by now, when things are generally chaotic, we will always find a way to add more to our plates. So here we go…
Stay at Home Order
COVID cases started to emerge in CO early March. My besties and I had planned a girls’ trip to Waco, TX to attend Silobration and 2 days before we were planning to fly out, they cancelled the event! Major let down.
Heard there would be broader stay at home orders nation wide, so I immediately booked a flight back to IL (March 14, 2020) to be with Ty and the kids. I left Jocelyn back in CO with Aprille since we weren’t sure what the schools had planned for the rest of the year. We are so appreciative of her and Kalen!
Thankfully, I was able to work from home, even though home in my case was almost 1,000 miles away from our CO regional offices. The kids transitioned to remote learning and eventually we were all home full time.

Face time with my girls…full heart!

Move #10 – Illinois to Colorado
In the midst of Corona, our family had to make one of the biggest decisions in our marriage, Ty retiring from the military. After 20+ years, 2 deployments and countless moves, we decided it was time to lay down some roots and transition from active duty to the civilian world. Thankfully, there are some awesome programs sponsored by the Air Force to ease the change. Ty secured an internship with a company out in CO and has already started despite not officially retiring until October 2020. With that, our family was on the move…AGAIN. To save a little money and limit our exposure to the virus, we opted to do the move all on our own! 20,000+ lbs of household goods, 2 trailers, one Penske truck, dozens of boxes, 2 cars, 4 children, a pandemic; needless to say, this totally sucked, but somehow we made it happen.

Mother’s Day
Got out of the house for the day, picked up some of my favorite Vietnamese food and had a little picnic at the cemetery.

Goodbye Sarah!
After 2 years, Sarah headed back home to South Africa. She was great with the kids, especially when we had to start home schooling. In addition to caring for the little ones, she was a huge help during 2 PCS moves. She truly will be missed.

Father’s Day 2020

I think we’re all caught up!
We’re all doing good here, adjusting to the new norm. Lots of little projects to knock out around the house which makes staying at home not that terrible. We do miss going out to eat, but enjoy trying new recipes at home. Be safe everyone!
